During the Consensus Conference in 2018, Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter and Square showed his support for Bitcoin stating that it would eventually become the native currency on the internet.

This isn’t the first time he has publicly expressed his interest in blockchain technology and Bitcoin. During several interviews, he backed Bitcoin as the new currency and said that it is currently fighting with traditional currency.

Steve Wozniak Backs Jack Dorsey

Steve has shown support for Jack Dorsey stating that he hopes that Bitcoin will indeed be accepted globally especially because of the consistent effort of the new generation.

During the Money 20/20 Conference in Amsterdam, Wozniak said:

“I agree with what Jack Dorsey said even if I am not 100% sure it will be happen. I am pure thinking it because I want it to be that way.”

Woz clarified that he doesn’t support all the other cryptocurrencies the way he supports Bitcoin. He pointed out that his interest in cryptocurrencies is restricted to Bitcoin.

He believes that many of the other cryptocurrencies in the industry lack the core qualities of Bitcoin stating that the Bitcoin blockchain has a special appeal.

In his words:

“All the other cryptocurrencies tend to give up most of the aspects of Bitcoin. For instance, most of them are not entirely decentralised. If they can give up that aspect and start being decentralized maybe they can meet up with Bitcoin. Only Bitcoin can be considered as pure digital gold. I totally buy into that.”

Will Bitcoin become the native digital currency? The cryptocurrency industry is unpredictable long-term so no one knows what the next few years will bring. We can only wait and see.
