- Zcash launches a new software kit for iOS and Android
- New tools will help process mobile shielded payments
- Zcash will continue enabling shielded payments on mobile
Zcash news today – the goal of every digital asset protocol is to always ensure that its users make the most of their solution. Dropping new software and other types of solutions must take priority. Today the focus is on Zcash, the token native to ECC (Electric Coin Company). According to reports, the for-profit entity and brain behind Zcash has now published a new SDK (software development kit) that would cover both Android and iOS devices.
The Electric Coin Company launched a new iOS Package and an Improved Android SDK
According to one blog post from Wednesday, January 15, the Electric Coin Company has announced the launch of a new iOS package and an improved Android SDK. The ECC said the goal of this new initiative is to help developers provide support for shielded transactions on mobile devices. These new software tools also come along with a lightweight server to be used for the backend processing of shielded payments on mobile.
This means that transaction amounts, user addresses, and memos in the transactions will be obfuscated. While there are already multiple Zcash wallets available for both laptop and desktop PCs on the ZecWallet service, the announcement made recently by the Electric Coin Company is a big step toward activating shielded payments on mobile devices.
ECC: Facilitating Shielded Payments on Mobile a Difficult Endeavor
Due to the large amount of data required to facilitate shielded payments, providing them on mobile devices has proven to be a technologically difficult task the ECC said. The Electric Coin Company also said it managed to cut-down data constraints on mobile versions in order to implement the Sapling privacy technology. Recall what the for-profit entity said in a report from April 2019 regarding the Android light client launch:
“What previously needed gigabytes of data on any server can now be accomplished with computation and megabytes of data suitable for mobile devices.”
At press time, the price of Zcash, the ECC’s native token was trading at $50.77. The coin has reportedly added 2.62% in the last 24 hours per CoinMarketCap data. Zcash also has a total market capitalization of $434,189,872 in the last 24 hours with a circulating supply of $434,189,872 within the same period. The Electric Coin Company’s token also had a 24-hour trade volume of $556,453,168 at press time. Whether the recent move by the ECC will impact the price of the coin or not remains to be seen. We can only wait and see.
