- Cardano’s Creator, Charles Hoskinson Says Cardano’s Prism Has What it Takes to Compete With Microsoft
- After the Shelley Mainnet Launch, Cardano Will Change the Blockchain Industry
Cardano News Today – Cardano is one of the most unique blockchains in the space. The Cardano blockchain is based on scientific principles that no other blockchain uses, giving it an edge over its competitors. Recently, the creator of Cardano, Charles Hoskinson, said that the Cardano blockchain has what it takes to compete with Microsoft thanks to the Haskell programming language and Prism. Haskell was required for the successful implementation of Cardano Shelley on the mainnet. Prism, Cardano’s identity solution, will be introduced during the upcoming Cardano virtual summit.
Cardano News Today – Can Cardano’s Prism Make the Blockchain Compete With Microsoft?
During an interview with Ryan Selkis, Hoskinson said that they’ve faced some challenges over the last few weeks as they move closer to the Cardano Shelley mainnet launch. He said that they have gained a reputation over the years and they intend to maintain this reputation over the years. Even if progress has been slow in the past, the Cardano development team has put extra effort into meeting the targets on their roadmap. Overturning their strategy has been easy for the network but it is for the best. Hoskinson said;

“…But the reality is that all the things we were working on for the last 5 years are coming together all at once. Now we are in a situation where we can ship things in a matter of weeks that normally would have taken us months with the old code and processes. The other thing is we are starting to get a competitive advantage from Haskell. What people don’t understand about Haskell and functional programming is; yes, it is very hard and there’s a big barrier to entry, but you have to write a lot less code, so cases 5-10 times less code than C++ or Java…”
Ahead of the successful implementation of Cardano Shelley, IOHK will release a post-Shelley roadmap. This roadmap will be released during the Cardano virtual summit. During the summit, we will learn more about Prism. Hoskinson said that Prism allows people to use decentralized IDs. It has what it takes to compete with Microsoft according to Hoskinson. He continued;
“…Like our identity product Prism. We are going to do a major demo at the summit in July and then we should give you guys a beautiful roadmap on how we want to get it out in the market and compete with Microsoft and the other offerings, probably before the end of the year. And what’s nice that is already used in production. We are using parts of that for the credentials system in Georgia and we are bidding on a farmers’ vouching system […] and it allows us to be very competitive in the permissioned ownership space which is where security tokens live and these other asset classes…”
