Monero’s Riccardo Spagni also known as FluffyPony is one of the most lived figures in the cryptocurrency universe. People like him because he is funny and outspoken. Unfortunately, his recent jokes about Naval Ravi Kanto wasn’t too welcoming and may have put him in the negative spotlight of some other prominent figures in the industry.
Naval Ravikant is the CEO of AngelList and is also one of the most popular cryptocurrency enthusiasts on Twitter. He has a habit of posting updates and predictions about the cryptocurrencies as well as sharing self-help advice and other philosophies. One of such philosophies was handpicked by Monero’s Riccardo Spagni. Riccardo started a trend with the hashtag #LookAtMeImNaval. The first tweet in the series of tweet by Riccardo was “To be a successful entrepreneur you must accept your own greatness.”#LookAtMeImNaval.
War on CryptoTwitter
In no time, other cryptocurrency enthusiasts joined the trend and started posting their own #LookAtMeImNaval piece of wisdom. Some prominent people like WhalePanda were included. While many people on CryptoTwitter saw the tweets as inspirationals, a few people felt the hashtag was Riccardo’s way of bullying Naval Ravikant, the successful multimillionaire.
In his defense, WhalePanda said that people are wrongfully accusing him of bullying Navikant. He also shared a screenshot showing that Navikant blocked him on Twitter just because he was having fun with the hashtag on Twitter. Monero’s Riccardo Spagni said that the tweets were just for fun and were not intended to upset Navikant.
CTO of Coinbase Balaji S. Srinivasan, Blocks Riccardo Over the Tweet
One of the most remarkable comments against Riccardo was from Balaji S. Srinivasan, the CTO of Coinbase. He said that Riccardo’s behavior was embarrassing and beneath him. In his words:
“Riccardo, your behavior is embarrassing and beneath you. Let’s get back to building technology.”
As Riccardo tried to defend himself, Srinivasan said it is better for them to go their separate ways. He blocked Riccardo after that.
The Monero community is considered as Monero is one of the lastest additions to Coinbase.
