HTC’s Blockchain Smartphone will Supports Bitcoin, Lightning Network and Litecoin [LTC]

Taiwan based consumer electronics company HTC is about to release its first ever blockchain smartphone and Litecoin founder, Charlie Lee has confirmed that the smartphone will come preloaded with support for Litecoin [LTC].

The new HTC crypto- smartphone named HTC Exodus will support Litecoin (LTC) and Bitcoin (BTC) natively, and also comes complete with the new CryptoKitties game for blockchain enthusiasts. Charlie Lee revealed that the HTC Exodus will also be compatible with a revolutionary off-blockchain payments protocol, called the Lightning Network.

Lee, who was contracted as an advisor for the new smartphone, expressed excitement towards the phone and recounted his experience with the HTC team. He tweeted:

“I met the HTC Exodus team last week and was really excited to hear the phone will support LTC and Lightning Network on Litecoin natively! I will be an advisor as I see having a secure crypto phone that makes LN simple is needed for mass adoption.”

Although HTC is being tight-lipped about the whole development, the company in July released the basic specs expected for HTC Exodus. The phone, HTC said, will have an integrated wallet and cost around $1,000.

Interested individuals who wish to purchase the HTC Exodus can sign up and reserve their purchase which will be available from the third quarter 2018 according to HTC website. Interested parties can also engage in a pre-sale using either bitcoin or Ether.

The era of blockchain and crypto- smartphones are now emerging, another mobile phone manufacturer Sirin Labs has partnered with Foxconn microchips producing firm to build a new blockchain powered smartphone called “Finney.”
