Bittrex – a digital currency wallet service and trading platform – recently announced its plans to launch USD trading pairs for two new digital currencies. This was announced by the firm on the 8th of August.
Bittrex to List XRP and Ethereum Classic (ETC)
According to the announcement, the digital currency trading platform has plans of expanding its fiat markets to XRP (XRP) and Ethereum Classic (ETC) on the 20th of August. The new digital currencies will be added to the existing USD markets for Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin (BTC), TrueUSD (TUSD), and Tether (USDT).
The firm added that it will gradually continue to add digital currencies to its US dollar markets, utilizing a “phased tactic” for US dollar trading. The trading platform further explained that it’s slowly and steadily approaching the “ramping up of these markets” in order to guarantee quality in the systems and processes before putting them out there for qualified customers.
Bittrex was founded by Bill Shihara and two other business partners back in 2014. Both Shihara and his two business partners are former security team members at Amazon. In February 2018, Shihara announced the intention of the trading platform to open up US dollar trading to most of its users.
In October last year, the firm suddenly decided to disable a lot of accounts for compliance reviews without letting its customers know in advance. In December, they temporarily stopped new user registrations, stating that it’s due to the inability to accurately verify new users as a result of high demand. Nevertheless, the trading platform later resumed operations again, but with more requirements.
