VogoV: Where Porn Meets Blockchain – Interview with Cofounder Constantine MacMillan

Vogov porn blockchain interview

Over the years, the porn industry has driven many technology innovations. While speaking with Smartereum, Constantine MacMillan, a cofounder of VogoV, candidly talks about the issues facing the industry, and why they believe that blockchain is the latest technological innovation that will move them forward.

MacMillan is a venture capitalist with extensive experience in software product development. He is an anchor investor in VogoV, in addition to serving as the Token Sale and Product Manager.

Smartereum: Tell us more about VogoV. What problem is it solving?

MacMillan: First, the adult entertainment industry is experiencing a kind of stagnation at this moment. What has been working up to now is becoming a thing of the past. Cryptocurrency acceptance as a payment method is only one facet of this. Cryptocurrency and the blockchain can be used for much more than just a payment method. We’re using cryptocurrency to change the way we interact with our community of fans.

  • The first step is to develop a decentralized interactive adult video studio where fans will be able to vote on what they really want to watch. First, they complete a survey which is used to create several scenarios based on voters’ preferences. After the survey, the scenarios are formed and voted on. At this stage, the voters determine the direction of the studio’s video production.
  • The second step is to implement an interactive business model, which will include us as the producers of adult videos, our membership subscribers and our voters. At this moment, it’s quite hard for fans of adult videos to find videos they really want since they’re faced with a ton of different videos. We plan to implement a smart chatbot designed with the help of a group of sexologists to help an individual find what they want. The chatbot will also gather depersonalized and completely anonymous data about what our watchers want. After it’s automatically analyzed and some tendencies are found, the voters can decide what content will be produced, taking into account the preferences and desires of the fans who are not voters. At this stage, the watchers (members/fans) determine the direction for the video production and the voters correct the direction.
  • Second, the problem of anonymous and secure payment methods with low fees is solved by OGO coin and cryptocurrencies in general.
  • Third, the absence of a unified adult-industry cryptocurrency supported and adopted by industry players who make a difference can be solved by OGO coin.
  • Fourth, OgoShift can address some of the problems the adult industry faces that have not yet been solved through the use of cryptocurrency. For example, it’s vital for adult businesses to accept recurring fixed-amount and pay-per-view payments. This is what OgoShift solves through the off-chain customer-to-merchant payments within the infrastructure and the on-chain payments through smart contracts using ETH.
  • Fifth, cryptocurrency can be difficult to understand and use for the average person. The marketplace in concert with the benefits provided by OGO coin can significantly help proliferate and simplify cryptocurrency usage. This will have a favorable impact on the cryptocurrency market cap as a whole since some percentage of the $100 billion industry will move into cryptocurrency.

Smartereum: VogoV already has a functioning studio. Why introduce blockchain now? How will it help?

MacMillan: Yes, VogoV is a functioning studio, but not decentralized at the moment. Blockchain inspired us to make the dream of a fan-controlled studio come true. The problem was to determine how fans could participate in the decision-making process on content production and what would give them the possibility to take part in it. VogoV decided to tokenize a vote. Now everyone who holds OGO coin can vote on the content to be produced.

Smartereum: Tell us a bit more about the technology that runs the platform? Which blockchain?

MacMillan: OGO coin is an ERC223 token (Ethereum). The voting platform will be off-chain, otherwise it would be too expensive for token holders to vote, since a vote is a transaction which has a blockchain fee.

Also we’re developing the cryptocurrency infrastructure for the adult entertainment industry. We’ve recently released the MVP, OgoShift Wallet: https://wallet.ogoshift.com/.

Smartereum: Tell us about the team behind VogoV.

MacMillan: VogoV is founded by Markus Dupree (Aleksei Maetnyi), who won 7 “Oscars of Porn” and is the male performer of 2018 according to XRCO and AVN, and Ivan Kirillov, who has 18+ years of experience in the adult entertainment business and 7+ years in online gambling and eCommerce. Jonni Darkko, our operator, is a well-known fgure in the adult entertainment industry who has over 20 years of experience as both a former male performer and a director. Having directed over 180 porn videos, he was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame in 2016. Jonni Darkko leads video production at VogoV.  Our team is pretty big, so it’s requires a lot of space to tell about each of them. White Paper and our public team members’ LinkedIn profiles can give you an overall picture: https://vogov.io/VogoV_Whitepaper.pdf.

Smartereum: Do you plan on having a token sale? If so, when is it? And who can participate?

MacMillan: Yes, the pre-crowdsale has begun and ends in 8 days. The public token sale starts on September 26 and ends November 14. At the moment we feel the cryptocurrency market is down and see huge interest from the private investment sector. That’s why we may renounce the main public sale.

Formally citizens and residents of the following countries are not allowed to participate in the token sale: China, Singapore, Algeria, Bolivia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Lebanon, Morocco, Namibia, Nepal, Pakistan, Ecuador, Myanmar, Ivory Coast, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, USA. Actually everyone who knows our smart contract address can buy OGO coins.

Smartereum: Who would be interested in following VogoV’s progress? And why should they care?

MacMillan: Millions of porn fans are definitely interested, because we will advance a brand new fan engagement concept. Also adult entertainment businesses are interested in following OgoShift, because this is the solution helping their business.

Smartereum: Anything else you’d like to add?

MacMillan: Most ICOs release their products only after fundraising, or they show some kind of a high-level prototype trying to convenience their community that they have a real product. The VogoV Token Sale is quite unique. VogoV released 2 products even before their pre-crowdsale, which has begun on August 21 and ends on August 31.
