Ethereum May End Up Successful But Not Ether

Ether – the digital currency, not the Ethereum blockchain itself – will go to zero. Those that already believe that ether won’t see real-world adoption do not need to be convinced that a collapse in the value of the coin would follow as a consequence. Here are some reasons why Ethereum will succeed beyond anyone’s wildest dream, but ether will become worthless.

Ethereum Is Used to Build Groundbreaking Apps

Ethereum is a decentralized blockchain network that runs smart contracts – apps that run only as programmed without any chances of third-party interference, fraud, censorship, or downtime. These applications run on a custom designed blockchain.

This allows developers to build stores, markets registries of promises or debts, move funds with compliance with instructions given a long time ago such as future contract, and many more without intermediaries. If the blockchain platform succeeds on the proposition of its value, it will eliminate external risk factors for Dapps.

No Value Proposition for ETH – Gas

In the official description of Ethereum, there is no proposition of value for ETH. Maybe this omission is because the value of ETH seems so obvious that the Ethereum Foundation failed to mention it. $ETH fees, which is tagged “Gas,” is how users pay for things on the platform. $ETH dubbed Gas is a metaphor used to describe the consumption of gasoline; there isn’t a hard requirement for Gas in an Ethereum contract.

The Ethereal Value of ETH

If all the apps on the blockchain of Ethereum, as well as their transactions, can do without ETH, there is no reason for the digital currency to be valuable except miners implement some sort of racket to mandate users to pay in ETH. But if the miners are mutually disinterested, rational, and uncoordinated, they would prefer to get paid in digital currencies of their choice instead of something like ETH.
