As part of the agreement, SportsCastr will host premium content from women basketball players on its platform where basketball fans can access them through its Fanchain token.

This deal is similar to the one that the live streaming platform entered with NFL players last month. The players’ body NFLPA agreed to use Spostcastr platform to provide personalized live commentary to their fans, who can access the content through the Fanchain token.

Players in WNBA will also be able to provide live commentaries for professional and college games as well as other exclusive content through a dedicated portal. The portal will aggregate all player content and rank them such that fans can choose the most popular streams.

According to Terri Jackson, the Director of Operation for WNBPA, the SportsCastr live-streaming platform will give the players an exciting was to engage with fans, who for their part crave authentic interaction and in real-time. He explained that the innovative technology SpotrsCastr affords, fits into the objective of REP Worldwide to bring fans and players closer.

Kevin April CEO of SportsCastr reiterated the company’s goal to empower athletes to own the storytelling in their sports. He remarked:

“From the NFLPA to the WNBPA, it’s our mission to provide a platform for all fans and athletes to have a voice. Through the WNBPA partnership, which offers fans live interactive video and exclusive content directly from players, the talents and personalities of these incredible female athletes will be on display for the next generation of fans.”

SportsCastr’s deal with players of the WNBA, which is the women version of the NBA, comes after it received backing from former NBA commissioner David Stern. This was followed by the deal in August with NFLPA.

The platform will be open to WNBA players this third quarter while the dedicated portal for WNBPA will be opened in the fourth quarter of this year.
