Qtum is one of those low key blockchain projects that has been gradually making waves in the industry in recent times. Last month, Qtum celebrated its one year anniversary. This was a good time to celebrate as the cryptocurrency got listed on three exchanges and had other significant achievements during the same period. Just last month, Qtum’s development team released the Qtum Core v0.16.1 and v0.16.0. The platform upgraded to Bitcoin core 0.16 so as to offer users default HD wallets, bech32 addresses, and segwit wallets.

The upgrade fixed so many bugs including the one that causes transaction failure and incorrect logs in user wallets. The gitian-build scripts were also updated to support Ubuntu Bionic. Apart from these updates, the platform is also making progress with its new website that is meant to foster community growth with a forum design. It also released the v2 Qtum mobile wallet for Apple and Android devices. The wallet has a fully optimized user interface. The wallet also made allowance for more QRC – 20 tokens.
The x86 virtual machine was improved by the development team. Bugs were fixed and the security was tightened. A new version of the Qtum Electrum wallet was released in September as well. The new version is more optimized than the previous one and things like system crashes were fixed. Auto saving and Chinese translation were also enabled.
For a platform that is just a year old, Qtum has done relatively well. During its one year anniversary, the platform hosted a hackathon. The founder, Patrick Dai, appeared as a guest speaker during the G20 Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance (G20 YEA) that was hosted in Argentina.

Even if Qtum has been one of the biggest lossers within the last few months, it is currently trading in green. At the time of writing, Qtum was trading at $3.80. This indicates a rise by 2.04% against the USD and a rise by 1.42% against Bitcoin. The 24 hour trading volume is $101,425,313 and the total market capitalization is $338,277,148. The next few days of trading will determine if the price action will. The good news is that it has started the new week trading in green.
