Coinbase is one of the most popular digital currency trading platforms in the world. A lot of digital currency projects have been trying to get their coins listed on the platform over the years. This is because “listing” is one of the major factors that drive the values of digital currencies. The value of a coin surges higher, even more, when it is listed on a very popular and dominant trading platform.
This same trend occurred when Coinbase added Ethereum Classic (ETC) to its trading platform some months back. The value of Ethereum Classic (ETC) increased significantly during the announcement of the listing and after the listing.
Recently, the digital currency trading platform, Coinbase, announced the addition of Ox protocol token to Coinbase Pro. Coinbase Pro is the professional trading platform of Coinbase.
Coinbase Adds an Ethereum-based ERC-20 Token to Coinbase Pro for the First Time
In an announcement via a blog post on Thursday, Coinbase said that it has started accepting ZRX deposits. According to the announcement, trading on the platform would start by 5:00AM UTC or at least twelve hours after the announcement. This listing signifies the first time Coinbase has added an ERC-20 token which runs on the network of Ethereum (ETH) on its professional trading platform.
According to David Farmer – the general manager of Coinbase Pro – once there is enough liquidity, ZRX/USD, ZRX/BTC, and ZRX/EUR trading will begin. However, he said the trading will only be accessible for users in most jurisdictions.
The trading won’t initially be open to New York residents. He also added that ZRX can be accessed via Coinbase Pro. But it’s not yet available via Coinbase.com, or the Android or iOS app of the firm.
ZRX Sees Massive Gains after the Announcement
The value of ZRX started a massive rally after the announcement, just like Ethereum Classic (ETC). The token is now trading at its highest point since August. At the time of writing, the coin is trading at 85 cents after an increase of more than 14 percent over the past 24 hours.
Vitalik Buterin Defends Himself after Nouriel Roubini Calls Him a Scammer
Recently, Nouriel Roubini – a global economist – posted a series of offensive tweets, calling Buterin a scammer. In response to the defamatory tweets of Roubini, Vitalik Buterin reveals how much he owns and where his money comes from.
In one of Roubini’s tweets, he said Buterin was a criminal that stole 75 percent of all available ETH. Purporting that this made him an instant billionaire. Buterin replied to him saying that his net worth has never surpassed billions of dollars. Debunking Roubini’s allegation.
Buterin added that since pre-mining is not prohibited by any law. So it was immature for Roubini to call him a criminal. He said Ethereum (ETH) is pre-mined and the ecosystem of the blockchain project doesn’t see it as a scam.
Buterin said that the Foundation has only had 3 million ETH, which is now down to 660K ETH. The rest of the coins were spent on development.
Ethereum (ETH) Price Today – ETH / USD
Ethereum (ETH) is currently worth $197 after a decrease of about two percent over the past twenty-four hours. The current market cap of the digital currency is $20.27 billion and its trading volume over the past twenty-four hours is $1.66 billion.
