CEO of Great Lakes Science Center, Kirsten Ellenbogen, said the institution has decided to accept cryptocurrency to promote the growth of the local Blockchain ecosystem.

Ellenbogen says,

There is a lot of excitement around the conference. Accepting bitcoin is just a small part of the momentum to grow a blockchain ecosystem in Cleveland.

This integration of cryptocurrency by the museum comes after the Swiss watchmaker, Hublot, integrated bitcoin in a bid to sell more than two hundred pieces of its Bitcoin-themed sports watch. This limited edition was sold for $25,000 per piece. It has generated $5.25 million in revenue through sales conducted using only bitcoin.

More museums are accepting cryptocurrency

This is the third museum to accept bitcoin in the US. Museum of the Coastal Bend, St. Petersburg Museum of History in Florida and now, the Great Lakes Science Center are the three museums in the country that accept crypto as payment.

Five years ago, the Museum of the Coastal Bend started accepting bitcoin. The museum spokesperson at the time said,

I have to admit; I’m skeptical that anyone will visit and use BTC. But it doesn’t cost us anything to try, and it’s pretty cool to say that we’re the first. Also, admission is pay-what-you-want, in case anyone was wondering how many of their hard-earned BTC they would need to spend here.”

After five years, bitcoin has become a more valuable and is worth more than $110 billion. Also, it is recognized by large-scale institutions such as Fidelity, ICE, Nasdaq, and the New York Stock Exchange as an asset.

According to CEO Ellenbogen, Visitors can get admission tickets with bitcoin to visit the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Glenn Visitor Center.

Its mobile app uses virtual reality and augmented reality to offer a new experience to visitors. She said,

Last year we launched our mobile app that uses augmented and virtual reality to allow guests to experiment with flames in space and test spacecraft designs re-entering Earth’s atmosphere when they visit the NASA Glenn Visitor Center, and now they’ll be able to use their phone to pay for their admission using Bitcoin.”

Bitcoin integration is the second main initiative of the body following the launch of its mobile application. It uses VR and AR to allow visitors to experience, evaluate and study the work NASA is doing.

The integration of cryptocurrency is the new trend

Hublot and the Great Lakes Science integration has been a success, and this has become the trend in the market worldwide.

The user base of bitcoin on a global scale as well as the steadily growing number of crypto using millennials, who are seeking ways to transact with digital assets at stores and merchants will benefit from this innovation. It does not cost anything for merchants and is also an efficient way to target consumers in the crypto market.
