Ethereum Browser Buying Option Is Now Available For Residents Of Norway, Sweden, Denmark

Cryptocurrencies have many use cases. In the financial sector alone, cryptocurrencies have the potential to take over fiat money. One of the most attractive attributes of this new currency is that it is not centralized. No central authorities has control over the production or distribution of cryptocurrencies. This is why it is a better alternative to fiat money that is controlled by the government through central banks.

While cryptocurrencies have a lot of potential, there are still some drawbacks attached to using them. One of these drawbacks is accessibility. Unlike fiat money that is easily accessible, cryptocurrencies may require a little more work. Most people are discouraged from using cryptocurrencies when they hear about the process of opening an account, getting a wallet, and buying cryptocurrencies on exchanges. Well, this can no longer be an excuse for residents of Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

Cryptocurrencies Can Now Be Purchased On Opera Browser

Web browser, Opera, recently launched a new feature that allows users to buy Ethereum directly through the browser. The information was made public through a press release. It stated that this feature is only available for residents of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. This was new feature was added after Opera entered into a mutually beneficial partnership with Safello, a brokerage firm. According to Opera, the brokerage firm is registered with the Financial Supervisory Authority in Sweden.

The senior public relations officer at Opera, Julia Szyndzielorz, said that the feature allows users to purchase Ethereum (ETH) online directly from the browser. This would save time and make the process of getting cryptocurrencies faster.

In December 2018, the web giant launched a Web 3-oriented browser compatible with Android devices. The browser has cryptocurrency wallet integration, and Ethereum (ETH) support. It also allows interactions among decentralised applications. The Ethereum (ETH) tokens that are bought through the browser can be used on decentralised applications as soon as they are purchased. In August 2018, Opera integrated a built-in cryptocurrency wallet on desktop browser. This shows that the team behind Opera believes in the potential of cryptocurrencies and the underlying blockchain technology.

Other Companies With Similar Visions

Opera isn’t the only company that is working on making cryptocurrencies more accessible. Last week, Brave Browser announced that it is going to be the main browser in the upcoming decentralised phone. The browser, which was founded in 2015, is a blockchain-based browser that was developed by Brendan Eich, one of the founders of Mozilla. The project set a record when it raised $35 million in 30 seconds through an initial coin offering round in the year 2017. The browser also recently started allowing its users to enjoy premium Cheddar content for free according to smarttest.wpmudev.host. This was done in association with Cheddar.

Last year, cryptocurrency exchange Robinhood posted an advertisement for cryptocurrency engineers. Shortly after, media outlets reported that the exchange was planning to integrate a cryptocurrency wallet. Until now, the exchange hasn’t made any comments about its plans regarding the integration of the wallet. For now, this should be viewed as speculation.

Do you think this move by Opera is going to encourage the adoption of Ethereum in Norway, Sweden and Denmark? Will the ease of purchasing ETH propel people to use it more? Feel free to share your opinion.
