In a previous tweet, 0x reminded participants of the submission deadline noting that “the judges will review all of the projects and select winners by February 14th.”

0x Coinlist hackathon

In December of last year, 0x announced the start of its hackathon in partnership with token sale platform CoinList. In a blog post authored by the project’s marketing lead Go to the profile of Matt Taylor, 0x announced that the hackathon will be conducted online from January 10, 2019, to February 7, 2019.

The challenge focused on improving the user experience in areas relating to non-fungible tokens (NFTs), compliance, and decentralized finance. Taylor further explained that the purpose of the hackathon was “to give anyone in the world the opportunity to learn about the emerging crypto financial stack, collaborate with other builders, and create well-designed projects that bring decentralized markets to the masses.”

0x received applications form projects in three broad categories; those which helped with regulatory compliance, others that built user-friendly decentralized financial markets and a third category for gaming applications using the ERC-721 standard.

At the time of writing, there are at least 55 entries for the hackathon as seen on the leaderboard on Coinlist’s website. TokenMart, a decentralized market for the Ethereum-based utility tokens has the highest upvotes followed by CashflowRelay, a finance-based application and 0xSplit a solution that allow friends split bills and pay back using cryptocurrency came in third.

The project with the most upvote gets $7,500 worth of ZRX tokens as the Community Choice winner. The 1st prize and 2nd prize winners, which will be selected by the judges will win $10,000 and $5,000 in ZRX respectively while the top three finalists in the three categories will each get $2,500 in ZRX. All entries are guaranteed $100 for participation.

As reported, 0x (ZRX) became the first ethereum-based ERC-20 standard token to be listed on Coinbase exchange leading the way for other tokens. The protocol created in 2016 has projects like Maker (Dai stablecoin), Ethfinex exchange and Coinbase-acquired Paradex built on it. At the time of writing, the 0x token is trading at $0.246 ranked at no. 36 with a market cap of about $144 million.

For its part, CoinList token sale platform has been used to raise over 400 million in token sales including the over $205 million Filecoin sale, a record at the time.
