Ripple News Today – The CEO of Ripple, Brad Garlinghouse, has been assigned to speak at the upcoming Fintech event along with Joseph Lubin, Joshua Klayton, the chairman of the CFTC and representatives of the SEC. Garlinghouse will be the keynote speaker at the event which has been dubbed Fintech Week 2019. The event will be about innovations in the financial technology industry. The fact that Brad Garlinghouse and other prominent members of the cryptocurrency community will be participating means that blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies might be topics for discussions during the event.
Will Making Public Appearances With Regulators Help Ripple?
Over the years, Ripple has received backlash from members of the cryptocurrency community. Ripple, the company behind the creation of XRP, holds more than 60% of the XRP in circulation in escrow accounts. While the company claims that it doesn’t make promises of RIO to investors, many people outside the XRP community claim that Ripple is selling unregistered securities to the community. This is why the XRP security status has been an issue for debate since the coin was created.
At the beginning of the year, there was a rumor that the XRP security status would be declared by the SEC before the end of the year. The community waited patiently for the announcement but with the year coming to an end, there is a low chance that the SEC is going to announce the XRP security status. However, making public appearances with regulators might be a good thing for Ripple. There have also been rumors that Brad Garlinghouse and other executives have been visiting the SEC for years to get regulatory clarification for Ripple.
From time to time, Ripple sells XRP tokens to institutions and individual investors. For the past few weeks, the company has been under fire for increasing the pace at which it sells XRP tokens. The price of XRP has been falling significantly causing many to blame Ripple. Some members of the XRP community say that Ripple is causing more harm than good by selling XRP tokens per our Ripple News a few days ago. Some others believe that selling XRP tokens to interested users increases XRP utility.
