Nevertheless, the application works in selected countries. Some of the countries include the United States, Canada, Ireland, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Mexico. The company plans to roll out services in Europe in the near future. In late Sept. this year, the firm raised $2.5 million in a bid to expand its platform with the option of paying with fiat currency. The new feature was added to the platform in late September and it lets Fold users spend both Bitcoin (BTC) and fiat currency at in-store and online retailers by adding their Bitcoin Lightning wallet or credit card. Until this moment, the application only accepts Bitcoin (BTC), the company says.

More Options to Stack Satoshis Are Beginning to Emerge

Fold was launched back in 2014 and it is one of the oldest Bitcoin (BTC) shopping rewards applications. Nevertheless, it is certainly not the only application that does that. Many other options to stack Satoshis are beginning to emerge. Another Bitcoin (BTC) rewards shopping application – Lolli – just partnered with Petco – American pet retailer – in late August.

Lolli also rolled out support for top American grocery chain Safeway, to provide customers with 3.5 percent cash back in BTC on all their purchases. In other news, the largest gift card platform in Japan – Amaten – made a strategic announcement earlier this year. The firm announced that it wants to issue tokenized gift cards in partnership with Aelf – blockchain network provider. The blockchain industry is gradually gaining grounds as more firms and industries begin to discover its great potentials.
