Medicalchain Wants Health Records On Blockchain

Medicalchain is now planning to solve the age-old problem of fragmentation of medical history. While a patient’s family doctor would most likely have his all health records, if you need to see a new doctor, she would not have access to the patient’s medical history. This becomes a major issue in case the new doctor is treating the patient in an emergency, where the patient is unable to communicate. Thanks to Medicalchain now medical health records would be directly available on the blockchain. This would ensure that doctors will now be able to access medical records quite easily. The patient would also have direct access to their own records without having to go through the doctor.

According to Dr. Abdullah Albeyyati, cofounder of Medicalchain, going through the medical records of any patient is a pretty tedious task, especially when the patient submits all the documents. However, with the help of the health records being available on the blockchain, it would become easier for the doctors to access the information. This would allow the doctors to provide more accurate diagnosis as well as prognosis to their patients.

The problem currently is that there is no trust in a particular organization which can work as the guardian of the medical records. However, blockchain can provide the much-needed privacy and it can also ensure that whenever the patient wants to share the medical records, he or she is able to do so quite easily. Thus, it is not only secure but since it is decentralized a single organization would not have access to all the medical data. This would ensure that only when the patients want to share their medical data or someone with authority wants to access the medical data, he or she is able to do so. This ensures that patients are able to keep the medical records completely safe and secure and at the same time, whenever they want to disclose it, they can do so quite easily.

Medicalchain would use the decentralized power of the blockchain in order to store all the data. The patient of the blockchain would get the key which he or she can share with the doctor. This would ensure that only when the patient wants to share the data, the doctor would be able to access it.

So the next time the patient visits a new doctor, they would not have to worry about presenting all the documents of their medical history. With the help of a single key, the patient would be able to show their medical history with the help of the blockchain.
